Polly is an 11 year old sorrel/flaxen haflinger mare about 14 hh, she is very stocky & about as wide as she is tall, she could easily handle an adult. She is a sound easy keeper with no known vices. She drives but probably needs a refresher as I believe it's been a year or better since she was last hooked up. I personally don't drive or have that type of equipment so have not done it with her. She previously always used to be part of my husbands uncles established driving team before he sold out but she is not broke to ride. I have been on her once just for fun & my daughter has been on her once & she did fine but that's the extent of it so please understand I am NOT selling her as broke to ride nor will we take the liability/risk of people bringing their children & asking to take a test ride because she is not yet trained for that & she sells at this price as is!
I got her this summer because I like her body type & wanted a foal out of her by our gypsy stallion & my kids wanted to work with her on getting her riding. She was bred/confirmed for a May 20th gypsy cross foal that is eligible for registration with some of the gypsy registries, Polly is not registered.
The reason I have decided to sell her is because she is dominant in the herd. My youngest has a old little pint sz Shetland pony that despite his size he thinks he rules the roost, fortunately my herd don't mind him so they just let him go on thinking that. Polly however don't put up with it & she is constantly putting him in his place & it worries me. She is also somewhat of a bully with my other horses & just not a good fit in our wimpy herd so as of lately she has been pastured with our stallion that she was bred to.
She would do best alone or with a more dominant herd. If she bonds with someone she will probably do fine in a one on one situation again as previously she was always buddies with her team/pasture mate.
She is good with people & handles well, she is sweet & likes attention. She can be a bit pushy though so I would not recommend her for little kids.
Update, after posting this last week I noticed she has been letting my stallion cover her again so I am assuming she absorbed the first pregnancy. Now she will be due around 6/30 / 2016. I will be getting her re checked shortly but since I already have the ad posted I will keep it up & list her as exposed to stallion until things are confirmed again.
Sell's for $800 as is, if someone buys her in the mean time that wants the foal & she comes up open you are welcome to breed her back at no charge either this summer yet or next season.
Also if someone is looking for an established team, her team mate Petey is also available, they went separate directions earlier this summer but feel free to contact me if interested in putting them back together & I can put you in contact with his owner!
